Biography

Key interests and achievements

Lesley’s policy interests include health, housing and economic development. She lives in Wrexham and enjoys walking, reading, cooking and watching football, especially Wrexham AFC. She was previously an elected Director of the Wrexham Supporters Trust. or tap here to enter text.

Personal history

Lesley was brought up in North East Wales and has lived and worked in Wrexham all her adult life.

Professional background

Lesley spent 20 years working at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital. Prior to her election to the National Assembly for Wales, she worked as Constituency Assistant to Ian Lucas, MP.

Political history

Lesley was first elected to the Welsh Parliament/Senedd in May 2007. She set up and chaired the Cross-Party Hospice Group and served on several Committees. In December 2009, Lesley was appointed to her first Ministerial role in the Welsh Government. She served continuously in several Cabinet roles within Government until July 2024.
